Well, by definition, secular humanism is a philosophy that upholds reason, ethics, and societal justice. Secular Humanists reject the supernatural or the spiritual as a valid basis of decision-making or even moral reflection. So, in a religious sense a person holding to these beliefs, especially one who allows them to supercede scriptural instruction, would befinately be worshiping a false idol…
Because of the way that humanism stresses the love of all humankind, there are some that feel that it is a religion in itself. And, that may also be a reason why the same philosophy appeals to Christians so.
But in an ironic sort of way, secular humanists frundamentally disagree with the religious humanists, because of their rejection of the supernatural! And, as I mentioned, Christians that allow humanistic philosophy to inform their ideas moreso than scripture run a strong risk of professing faith in a false idol…
I’m sure that what I just wrote makes me either a domestic terrorist or a racist!

I think it mostly appeals to young, impressionable, or lazy older minds because it is sooooo well-meaning – and frankly requires little by way of critical thinking. The major problem I have with it is that the very same who fall for the Humanist approach (of any variety) are the very same who never – and I mean never – think about the unintended consequences.
Plus it’s also fun to f*ck with images of The New Messiah.

As long as they meant well Enoch, repeated the proper buzzwords, and adhere to the proper ideology, then they are absolved of any responsibility for the effects they caused…
Besides, with the advent of the kewl, new!, moral relativism, you can essentially get away with anything; because killy a fly is tantamount to the holocaust, of expedient, and giving a hobo a penny just as noble as the lifetime Mother Theresa spent serving the poor!
At least that’s what Chris “Tingle” Matthews says…
And you know, I never realized that “Moab” is almost an anagram for Obama…
Now a whole lotta folks is worshipping him as a “new” messiah; but he seems to have fallen to Earth lately-just like Icarus…
Makes feel better too. “Cuz I know that no one, not even Christ, knows when the end of days will come, but I was starting to wonder if it wasn’t too far off!
Just between you, me, and the blogosphere that is…

Dear Lord Obama, please smite the hump-backed hemiplegic heathens who forsake thine righteousness. Breath fire into the bellies of these blasphemous wanderers, those who tingle not and whose foul voices originate deep from within their rectal breeches. Forever is your glory, Lord Obama, forever.
Amen.

Stupid? How so? I was talking about religion and philosophy; specifically Christianity.
My quip at the end was simply a bit of snark at those who believe secular humanism has somehow eclipsed Judeo-Christian values in America…
Lighten up, Podnuh!
