Just hold on for the next video: he was trying to make contact with al-Qaeda, and here's the statement from his ex-imam, who was connected with the 9-11 terrorists and now lives in Yemen.

Conclusion? "This seems to be a lone wolf with serious emotional troubles."

UPDATE: For other information, please see my comments. I want to make clear that I am furious that these murdered and wounded men and women were placed in harm's way. I want to know why it is that this happened. If Lieberman gets his hearings, that's great. But first I want to know why, if the intelligence services were aware of this Islamist fuck's online rantings, they didn't share that information with the Army. Or, if they did, why the Army didn't intervene earlier. And I don't give a rat's ass about Casey's moaning about the "diversity" canard.

    This meme won’t hold, once Joe Lieberman starts holding hearings on the Fort Hood massacre. He said yesterday that he believes that Hasan had turned to Islamic extremism and vowed to look into it.

    It means he was suffering from stress, but not PTSD. In that peice ABC mentioned several times that he was never deployed overseas.

    I believe Hasan is a scumbag human beyond the pale, much like SDN, who promotes himself on your website. SDN has threatened to shoot people, specifically me.

    ABC’s trying to have it every which way, Thor. He suffered from a stress disorder, the kind that other soldiers have, but it’s important to point out he’d never served overseas. Why’s that important? It’s obvious. Yes, he’s got a brother who lives in “occupied Palestine,” yes, he was a member of the radical imam’s mosque where some of the 9-11 hijackers worshipped, yes, he tried to contact al-Qaeda, but he was a lone wolf.

      I don’t think anyone in the media is trying to portray Hasan in a sympathetic light, at least not in the piece you posted, and I wouldn’t agree with them if they were.

      I have no argument with your bias that the Hasan was influenced as much by that gutter religiond, Islam, as much as any personal stress, I agree with you, but I also expect the media to present all sides of the lone scumbag’s motivations and I’m perceptive enough to know that when they do so that’s not translatable into they’re agreeing with the man’s motivation.

      When the media interviews Hasan’s mother or sister or whoever they’re simply reporting the statements presented.

    If you have a problem with the way a sentence was phrased, OK, but it’s more than clear ABC went out of their way to point out the Hasan wasn’t under any sort of PTSD and that Hasan’s stress was related to the fact that he couldn’t get out of his deployment. I think you’re trying to connect dots that aren’t there.

    No, they said that he suffered from the same stress. The same. They are trying to have their cake and eat it, too. It’s what’s called a category error. But in any event, the only reason to mention “stress” as a factor for this murderous rampage is to exculpate.

    This was a serious terrorist attack on US soil, and it turns out that the guy was on the radar, that intelligence knew he was trying to contact al-Qaeda. Why didn’t they bust him?

    Today also comes the news that the Brits uncovered the subway plot recently thwarted. Also, that Chavez wants his troops to prepare for a war with Columbia, launched as a proxy for Obama. Now is that madness or calculation? And while 3 off-course American hikers are being detained on charges of espionage by Iran. How’s that smart power thing working out, do you think?

    I’m not sure you’re making a coherent point. I’m glad the Brits uncovered a plot. Chavez is the democratically elected President of Venezuela who can say any dumb thing he would like, and in the past, under Boooosh, he availed himself well in that type of endeavor.

      Our State Department asked Zelaya not to return to Honduras and yet he did. That’s why we, and most of the OAS, washed our hands of him. Your Chavezing of our State Department and Obama is partisanship hackery at its worst.

      Obama has not waffled in Afghanistan. You simply lie. Obama filled a request for additional troops in Afghanistan once already, that was the same request that sat on Booooosh’s and neo-Dick’s desks for 8-months unfilled. McChrystal’s request is not simply for more troops but for a complete overhaul of strategy, one which is expected to cause many more U.S. military casualties. His is a strategy that screams for further review, and a review in which partisan hack’s screaming for our troops to mount white horses and charge the enemy be ignored.

        You Lie! They didn’t implement their strategy review reccomendations becuase the didn’t want to tie Obama’s hands to a committment he may not have chosen to follow through on.         And don’t make up your narrative version of the shameful handling of the Honduran situation. As late as last week Ian Kelly said Obama and the Department considered it a “coup!” regardless of the CRS findings.

        Obama waffled on Afghanistan becuase he wanted as favorable result as possible in te elections Here at home last week. And havin been called om it, his response is to dither further to cover his prior dithering.

        He’s shamefully playing politics with American lives, in an effirt to placate the nutroots, as they aren’t going to get the vaunted “robust public option” nor Federally funded abortion on demand as they wish. He’s afraid that in the face of these developments he’s lose their support for good if he also sent more troops to Afghanistan; a direct violation of the cynical campaign promises to go all kill-crazy, sooper-trooper in that theater…

    And while I applaud ABC for it’s latest report, I saw on Friday evening, with my own eyes, them trotting out several psychologists to hand-wringingly attest to the effect that Hasan culd have PTSD simply by listening to the tales of woe of returning troops.

Further, despite what the Library of Congress told them, dumbass John Kerry, now Senior Dumbass of Massachusetts, tried to quash the findings.

    If the US were serious about Zelaya’s not returning to Honduras, they would have put serious pressure on Brazil. They did no such thing while he was holing up at the Embassy, claiming to be assaulted by radiation and mind-altering gases provided to the Hondurans by . . . the US.

    It’s actually not that bad. Hasan was an attendee at a task force event that was open to all comers, not an appointee or a member of the task force. Aside from wondering what his interest in being there was, there’s not really much to the story. This is probably the least shocking revelation of the last few days.
