A Scanner Starkly
Dutch immediately to begin using full body scanners on passengers to US.
Pity the poor TSA agents. Meanwhile, there's all kinds of lefty uproar over Mike Gallagher's admittedly ridiculous suggestion.
Hey, dKos guy, I'm really sorry for the hassles at airports. In case you weren't aware, those hassles extend to all kinds of people. In your piece, you talk about how your wife really didn't dig the US until there was a little problem with her Muslim husband and custody. And I'm afraid that the weak-kneed response from US authorities is in large part a matter of State Department attitudes regarding respect of other cultures, no matter how misogynistic those might be.
Perhaps if Muslims found it more difficult to submit to screening and profiling at airports, they would make a louder stink about Islamist splodey-dopes screwing things up for them, rather than the outrage of being inconvenienced by people trying to safeguard the lives of passengers. Unfortunately, certain Islamic organizations seem to believe that R-E-S-P-E-C-T is the real issue, even as Christians are harassed and murdered, Bibles banned, churches torched, and citizens tortured, imprisoned and killed in Muslim countries. Cartoons? Riots! Limitations on minarets in non-Muslim countries? RAAAAACISM!
I'm sorry, but this narcissistic sense of misplaced outrage has gone too far and been coddled too long. It's time for the Ummah to clean up its fucking act.
You know what I call profiling? Scheming to blow up an entire airliner because its destination is the US.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday blamed the latest unrest in his country on the United States and Israel, the ISNA news agency reported.
'This is a play staged by the US and Zionists (Israel) which just makes us puke,' said Ahmadinejad in his first reaction to Sunday's protests against him and his government.
'Both those who staged and those who acted in this play are making a mistake, as the Iranian nation has seen many such plays and will not be affected,' the president added.
He also accused the United States and Britain of supporting the protesters and said the two countries would regret it.
You know, I wish our government would support the protesters and give this murderous asshat something to puke about.

ok – here’s a solution – all women who look and dress like this to the airport don’t need to be scanned. just need a once-over.

A complete once-over, I’d say.

Sure. The real outrage is what some guy with a radio show said. That’s keeping your eye on the ball. The system worked.

I appreciated the irony in the latest response from Dick’n'balls Cheney, the same man who delivered almost 3,000 dead bodies to NYC, the same man who blasted his friend in the chest with buck shot.
Priceless is righty-toon speak.

Do you appreciate the irony of Obama still playing the “inherited” card? Amazing how big a partisan hack someone who claims everyone else is can be.

First of all I’m a registered independent. I hack not! And most of Obama’s time is still spent working on the economic collapse that he inherited therefor there’s no inheritance-irony to be appreciated IMHO.
On a less partisan note, for Christmas I flat-screened my Dad’s entire house. I’ve a mini-van of about 450 pounds of tubed beasts to deliver to the Salvation Army, so if you’ll excuse while I channel my inner Hulk Hogan and hit the road.

That would be like the plans he didn’t inherit regarding Afghanistan, right? Bullshit.
Nice about your dad and the Salvation Army, though.

Dan, I read your linky to DKOS. Most interesting was Ahmed’s own cleansed-up writings (thanks, dad!; don’t tell Patrick Frey). The vileness of the commentary there (reminds me much of your own bit of blog-cancer, thor) ruined whatever thoughtful experience the poster might’ve intended. But that’s what happens, eh?
The poor mistreated kid actually thinks he’s the victim here, doesn’t he? His chance for complete acceptance in the U.S. was destroyed by evil George Bush and Dick Cheney (obviously whoever hijacked those jets did exactly what Boooosh told them to do); now his comic-book beliefs that the country of his accidental birth that didn’t really have streets paved with gold are shot to hell and it’s OUR FAULT! because there’s no way his religion (and his sister’s, still in a hijab!) which hasn’t moved much past the 7th century could ever be at fault, no siree Mohammed and piss be upon him!.
The kid, he’s actually moved to the UK. I’m sure he’s welcome there.
Islam is conducive to hostile takeover. Christianity is not, anymore; atheism is not (yes, atheism is a religion: they’ll all meet in hell); no other modern religion (well, there was Shinto, but we nuked that into submission) can be hijacked and turned into weaponized underwear.
Until ALL Muslims unite and re-write that spigot of hate, the Koran, we will be at war. Sorry, Ahmed, but you can choose to drop your associations like Barry Hussein did his (Wright, Ayers, UCC &c.) and simply throw Islam under a bus. If enough Muslims turned away, there would be that required reform. Until enough do, we will have crazy kids seeking 72 virgins (and one goat; thor, you share now, y’hear?) waiting for their chance to make the big time.

There’s that and there’s a simple matter of pragmatism. Bills, Carols, Teds and Alices aren’t looking to mass murder westerners, by and large. Those with that predilection are almost universally Allah aficionados. The notion that everyone must be treated equally at the airport checkpoint is ridiculous, wasteful and distracting. It’s like looking for a rapist and screening all the women in the neighborhood because It’s Not Fair if you don’t. It wastes time and resources and annoys and inconveniences those who we already are quite certain aren’t the problem.
I spend a lot of time at the airport. Watch a security line for a while and you’ll see that there’s one group of people that ALWAYS backs the line up because it takes forever to screen then: Handicapped (and predominantly elderly) people in wheelchairs. These are not suicide bombers. We don’t need to endlessly verify their metallic implants.
Mohammed from Tripoli? Sorry, dude, you’re getting the full monty. Because it makes sense, that’s why.
