Airline Woes Mean Little Or No Posting

Brendan flew into Philly from Milwaukee. Philly has always been for me the Airport of Doom, not least because it usually means that I'm flying US Air. He got there, and yeah, I know about the weather event, but the US Air kabuki began almost immediately.

That is to say, after a series of delays, his flight to Burlington was cancelled. He then switched to a flight to Albany, which is 2 1/2 hours away from here, rather than the usual 35 minutes to the airport in Burlington. The flight was then pushed back 3 times--they need to keep pretending that they're going to go, so that people don't start demanding accommodations of various kinds--Mary had to set out and ended up having to return after getting there. Finally, as is the usual procedure, having been through this many times before with US Airlines in Philly, they announced, after everyone had boarded, that the flight was cancelled because the crew would exceed their maximum permitted shift hours. They said that people who'd missed the flight would likely get home on Tuesday.

Brendan met up with a guy who'd already been stranded there for a couple of days. They decided to rent a car, and he's driving Brendan to Albany before continuing on to Massachusetts. So, I've got to drive down there and get him.

I hate liars.

Having said that, I hope you'll put aside all the political sturm und drang enough to enjoy yourselves, after you've done all you can to register your indignation over this POS bill. Democrats, insisting that it be pounded through and damn the will of the American people, before Christmas, before it has been revealed in its details, before it has been read by those who are supposed to vote on it, have now accused Republicans of attempting to ruin the Christmas of staff.

"Fuck you" hardly does justice to my sentiments.

This whole kabuki by our “betters” in the ~~House of Lords~~ Senate makes me ill. Not only are they raising a big middle finger to the majority of Americans who oppose Obamacare, but are doing so in the most cowardly and craven way; sneaking the bill trough a few days before Christmas with no one actually getting to read it before voting!

Hell, the only people that are aware of the contents are those who have been paid off to vote for it…

This whole situation is an example of how far out of line the Congress has gotten with executing the will of the people, and how much our political class has become just that; an actual stratum of society that profits off imposing their will on the hoi polloi, Eurosocialist style…

It represents tyranny, no matter how benevolent, and is part and parcel of the New Kind of Politics that Obama has brought to Washington.

This bill is the Baucus bill. There are some changes but the parameters are the same. It’s been read.

I’d assume the only politicians who haven’t read it are Republicans, you know, the ones who don’t give a flying crap about America and who never read the bills they vote on anyway.

It’s far from a Fox network lie thor. As of today, the bill that was voted on last night isn’t posted for public perusal. Why is that thor? How come the most Ethical!, Honest!, and Transparent! congress and administration-EVAH, are not releasing the content to the American people, like they promised…

The bill has changed considerable since Senator Baucus’ committee passed it…
