POWIP Piece of Work In Progress

Spent Yesterday and Part of Today in Hospital

Sorry to have bailed on you all that way. Yesterday morning Mary asked me whether I wanted to drive her in to school or have her go, and I told her I felt a little too dizzy to drive. She decided to stay home to keep an eye on me, and it was a good thing, because my blood pressure fell through the floor. She and my landlord drove me to the nearest hospital, where I was kept overnight for observation and absorbed three bags of saline, to get my blood pressure up.

At admissions, I apparently spoke all manner of nonsense to the doctor, which you all are used to, of course, but he was not.

It's theorized that I accidentally took one of Aidan's clozapene, but I won't know for sure until the results come in next week. My major impression from yesterday was thinking that the hospital's sliced roast beef tasted very moist for cardboard.

  1. I noticed you weren’t around. I’m glad you’re ok.

  2. If you had favorable things to say about hospital food, you were messed up. That stuff is made deliberately nasty so’s to keep the freeloaders at bay.

Hope everything is OK and continues to be. And because I’m a godbothering Xian spaghetti-fairy worshipping retard, allow me to wish you “Merry Christmas” at the risk of being ostracized further from decent society.

  4. Nearly 2 years ago, I had to take My Chief to the ER – closest one here is at NAS Jax. NOTHING found after TONS of tests on heart, etc that countermanded my own diagnosis – dehydration and exhaustion. Finally convinced him to get on blood pressure meds, though.

Yes, it IS scary, on this side of it, too – please take BETTER care.

  6. Wow Dan, that’s a pretty un-nerving incident. I hope you feel better real soom. Just to be sure, I’ll add you to the prayer list…

I hope it was only die to taking the wrong meds. Maybe, like myself, you need to make sure you keep the reading glasses handy for all task that require such close attention.

    All the best to you

    Freudian slip there, Bob? :-)

Take care, Dan. You must have gotten some of that Obama blotter acid if you think hospital food bore any resemblance to actual food.

  9. Glad to hear you are okay.

I’ve had that blood pressure plunging thing a few times, usually after I eat steak or roast beef (go figure), but it is very disorienting and very weird. Fortunately for me it only lasts a few minutes and then I’m fine. The doctor called it “dumping syndrome,” which is a terrible name. But it has something to do with a plunge in blood sugar for some reason, although it really has nothing to do with diabetes or anything like that.

Good luck and I hope you get an answer from the docs.

  10. Damn, you’d better take care of yourself, Dan. Now’s not the time to experimentalize with unknown pills. Now, back in the ’70′s, that sort of thing might’ve been hip and stylish and even fun(cough)714(cough) but today’s meds aren’t for sharing. Especially clozapine, a drug that carries “five black box warnings” (raaaaacist!) and was pulled off the shelves in Europe for killing peoples.

(Next time, just do a quarter one and send the rest to me? )

  12. Thanks, guys. Serr, I doubt it’s the sort of experience that would produce a black market.
