Haitian Earthquake [UPDATED]

Measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, mass destruction and collapse of buildings including the Presidential Palace. Reports of a hospital collapsed. Headlines saying dozens feared dead, likely to be many more than that, probably thousands, if the reports of the scale of the destruction are accurate.

May God have mercy on all those who have perished as a result of the disaster in Haiti, as well as those left suffering in the earthquake’s wake. May He also motivate us all to assist the relief efforts in whatever way possible, whether it be time, treasure, or talent.

I’m certain you’ll see the US Military providing aid very soon; at least we always have in the past.

We should all do what we can, as well as pray for the Haitian people.

My wife’s church has a 14 person mission in Haiti right now – 7 miles outside Port au Prince, to be specific. I know several of those people personally. We have heard – they are all okay and safe, but not much else. They arrived Saturday, with plans (and supplies) for just over a week. I’m sure they have given out everything they brought with them by now – I worry that they will have enough to survive and return (we don’t know how they’re getting out, now). If those of you who pray would include them in your prayers, my wife and I would be most thankful.
