Joey Boy
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead, as soon you may infer
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And strangely kneel and say an "Ave" there---for her?
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And tho' my gravestone bears the name of me
That you there bend to bless your mum who lives still
And I shall turn in consternation, Joey B.

Believe it or not, I ran into Joey B. several times while riding the train from DC to Long Island. He’s a gregarious, yuk-it-up, kind of guy; given to barroom blather-a raconteur of tall tales indeed. Hilarious to sit around and have a drink with. He always seemed like the kind of guy who would gentkly slap your cheeck while saying, “stay cool, baby!”-that sort.
I never agreed with his politics, and I guess what I’m saying is he seemed like an affable buffoon-like any good Irish bar has. It’s just kind of embarrassing now that we have a gaffe-a-minute Vice President.
Some antics you laugh at, but others are cringe-worthy indeed…

I’m just going to start referring to him as Gaffer Biden, or The Gaffer.

Maybe his theme song should be set to the old Tull tume, “The Whistler”; it was pretty carefree, happy sounding, footlose and fancy free-so to speak.
“So come on, I’m the Gaffer,
I’ve imagination and a point to make,
Get ready, for the Gaffer,
I say something dumb nearly everyday,
And embarrass America in everyway…”
But, you know, it’s no Joey Boy!

Hey Bob-
Like any good Irish bar has? What kind of crack is that? Are all Irish people buffoons like Biden? The Irish saved the written word during the dark ages and brought us writers like Joyce. Don’t compare us to this schmuck VP.

I think maybe Bob is saying there’s often a guy in an Irish bar who’s had enough Guinness to be as impaired as Biden naturally is.

No offense meant PKM, I apologize if any was taken. I suppose I should have said, “any bar” instead of specifying a genre.
All I meant was that, in person, Biden is like the affable drunks that pne may often meet in Bars, who hold forth opinions that aren’t always reality based. In bars, we simply shake our heads and laugh, as long as the professer remains affable. They’re buffooning themselves, to be sure, but in the spirit of the fellowship of spitits, we may not always call them on their gaffes.
I was only relating it to many good-time encounters I’ve had with blarney artists at many fine establisments over the years.
Anecdotal only, no offense intended.
A thousand pardons.

Bob, the easily offended are good at finding ways to be offended. I don’t think you said anything wrong.
