Judge Rules ACORN Funds Must Be Restored [UPDATED]
Part of a recent spate of news regarding ACORN.
Judge Nina Gershon has determined that ACORN were deprived of due process when Congress voted last year to cut off their funding, at least temporarily, after the scandal broken by the O'Keefe-Giles videos released by Andrew Breitbart. She was asked to reconsider in light of some of the evidence against ACORN, but refused.
In effect, the ruling means that Congress has no duty of care in funding a particular institution, but may not de-fund it without going through a formal process to determine its wrongdoing.
Yesterday came news, as well, that Holder's office put the kibosh on an investigation into ACORN, instead issuing a finding that they had broken no law. This is mocked by the deal that ACORN made with the state of Ohio to leave and not attempt to reconstitute itself under any other name there, in order to avoid prosecution, and news as well that 2 former ACORN employees have been indicted as part of a voter fraud investigation in Wisconsin.
Considering how slow ACORN has been to make its legally required filings, its a bit absurd to ask Congress to be up to the minute, but that's the way the judge sees it. But in liberaland, a church ought to lose its tax-exempt status if a priest argues against abortion.
Don't believe there's such a thing as liberal fascism?
UPDATE: On ACORN's re-branding.

Why am I not surprised that Holder isn’t aggresively pursuing the case against ACORN…
Just as with the NBPP, under “Holder’s Law” some people are just more equal than others…
We are a nation where the law is applied equally to all, regardless of race, creed, color, or sexual orientation; but, If you’re a member of a loyal Democrat constituency and Eric Holder is the AG..?
But, you know, by even noticing this stuff and daring! to criticize the AG we are automatically exposed, cataloged, decried, and denounced as the worst! kind of racists…
I’m sure glad that it’s the same standard that was applied to the critics of John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonzalez.
Oh, wait… No it wasn’t. That was back when DISSENT! was still the highest form of patriotism.
