Protest in the Age of Obama
Didn't Gibbsy just have some kind of pow-wow about press availability and treatment?
It really is pretty ridiculous. Or full on fascist, depending on your view.
If I were a member of the Washington press corps, I'd maybe just neglect to go to the next Obama photo op . . . with all my friends.
Good thing the press isn't raising a ruckus and calling for clawback. It's all part of the White House's SEO push. And, about that meltdown . . .
C'mon, gay men and women: there's plenty of room at the Tea Party.
Related: Terrible skepticism regarding government probably tantamount to sedition. Mind you, this comes after Reid's freak out that Republicans met secretly with Wall Street bigwigs. Rahm says that the administration found out about the SEC 3-2 ruling via the media. Uh huh.

As a longtime Washington resident I’d like to start by pointing out that this is, to the best of my knowledge, unprecendented. Since the 70′s, with a few breaks for time deployed, I can say that I have never heard of another time when civilians, let alone the Press !, were barred from filming the many protests that went on in fromnt of the White House, as well as the continuous ones that always went on in Lafayette Park itself.
As always, I’d ask folks to take a moment and ask themselves what reaction would there be had this occurred under Boooooooooooosh! There would be crying, gnashing of teeth, and rending of garments throughout the media tonight and for weeks to come. I’d go as far to say that, had this been under Boooooooooosh!, the press would not be satisfied with anything less than an apology by the President himself as well as the firing of the commander of the detail that issued the order to do this.
I perdonally am outraged by this, perhaps more so than any other action that has gone on during the short fascistic tenure of this administration; and that’s saying a lot. I spent years putting it on the line to protect the nation and the Constitution-just to watch this pusillanimous popinjay shred it at will.
This should be brought up continuously by the press, and any of the Republican leadership with balls should make an issue of this on the floor of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Both chambers should formally denounce this blatant, fascistic, violation of several fundamental tenets of our Constitution, and demand that the executive fire the responsible parties and apologize to the nation for this regrettable incident…
I know I’m calling my representatives tomorrow. Who’s with me?

I agree with all Bob wrote, but I must say that that reporter can suck my dick for his “It’s one thing to push the public back but not the press!” line. Eat me, buddy. The press has no greater standing than the People.
