POWIP Piece of Work In Progress

Reminder: Jeff Goldstein’s Dad Died

. . . and now he's dealing with the Usual Crap on top of it. Don't know the details, because he's nuked the offending comments, but he's righteously pissed, as he should be.

Anyway, I dunno . . . if you read this site, and you appreciate it, and maybe if you've ever thought of hitting that tip jar but haven't, please go over to Jeff's place and bump in, because Lord knows he could use the scratch. He's the closest thing to a blogdaddy that I've got, FWIW (having leaped fully formed from the forehead of Zeus).

On the plus side, I picked 7.75 lbs of chanterelles, today, and got $12/lb. Still don't know exactly what my employment status is, otherwise. Mary and Aidan head out to Scotland for a month to visit her mum tomorrow, so Boston bound.

Dan Collins is a dude who blogs. He used to blog elsewhere. Now he blogs here.

  1. The troll made some nasty cracks about how having fewer people of Jeff’s religious faith in the world was a good thing. I hope Jeff succeeds in plastering that slithering filth all over the six-o’clock news.

Hope your family hae a bonnie Scottish holiday!

  3. Yes – as much as I am not a huge fan of Dan’s blogfather, there is no excuse for that type of shit. Me? hell, I think but for the grace of God go I. It is an enormously drama-filled existence JG seems to have – I know I couldnt deal with that level of opera for more than about 3 weeks before beginning to think someone had cast a curse on me and mine. But yeah, I would say whoever the troll is, JG is able to find out and well, square up the debt he is owed for the insult.

  4. Chanterelles? I’ve never partaken thereof (at least not knowingly). But I’ve never had a ‘blogdaddy’ either, so I’m missing out on naught AFAIC.

My dad died 3 years ago, the day after my birthday. It’s a moving experience, and continues to be so for ever after, especially the first year’s anniversaries and holidays. There’s conflicting maturing and fracturing impulses and thoughts, fueled and lubricated by sadness but eventually culminating in an internal resolve to toughen up. But the maturation response must win out. Has to; there’s no other workable choices.

    (Did you know that I’m a natural-born card-carrying stoic ?)

Ok. I know now that Jeff’s dad died and I am very sorry about the loss. We all know that you want us to “hit the tip jar” “give money” “contribute”, and that you need to pay for “7.75 lbs of chanterelles, today, and got $12/lb”. We all know that you want money. From us. Because Jeff’s dad died.
I have seen so much about Paul’s dead dad that I just had to write in and mention how exploitative his “friends” have been over good old pop. Shut up about the dad and the fact he is dead. Write political commentary. You people can do that, right?
Gonna ban me? Gonna not post this? I don’t care, just shut up about Jeff’s dad.

I don’t care to read your drivel. See how that works?

    • Yeah, well, we’ve continued to do that; in case you haven’t noticed. And, why haven’t we seen you commenting on the essays you claim to desire so.

Give our pal Jeff, and our host Dan, a break as well as the benefit of the doubt, OK. The world doesn’t revolve around any of our individual desires, but, each of us can, and should, individually take a few moments and focus on the needs of our friends.

So, you’re not going to be banned, and your comment has been faithfully published; but there is a penalty to pay!

And that is to hit the tip jars here, and at Protein Wisdom, for at least 20 bucks each; for the privilege of using the bandwidth for your crass, boorish, and self-centered commentary.

      Vai Via, cafone…

    • Actually, the reason I posted about the chanterelles is to help excuse myself for not sending Jeff money. But interpretation is free, so have at it.

  6. Gee, fedup. Kinda grump there. Did someone recently try to corn hole you with a large corkscrew. Is that what made you morose?

    If so, cheers!

See, that was easy. Just like Fedup’s mom.

  8. I just want things to be back the way they where before. When we where all friends. I have been attacked and slandered at this blog, and you are all reprehensible for responding to a valid complaint in this manner.

    • When we were all friends? When was that, Fedup? What cognomen were you using then? Was it…thor?

And who was, “Paul”, that you referred to earlier?

      Dude! make with the 411…

    • By the way, I believe that Dan and I were civil to you.

    • I’m fairly new here so you’ll excuse me for not knowing about when you all were friends or whatever, but about this valid complaint business… What ‘valid complaint’?

Do you pay for this blog? The bandwidth? Perhaps you purchased the domain name? No?? The you get 100% ZERO say on what gets published here.

It’s not your house, you are a visitor at best, a troll at worse, and subject to the whims of the host (who has been much nicer to you than I would be) so if you really don’t like that they aren’t all-politics-all-the-time then go somewhere else.

In any event, my mother always said that if you can’t say something nice then don’t say anything – so why don’t you shut the fuck up.
