POWIP Piece of Work In Progress – Former Abode of Dan Collins

Surely, She-Ra Is Racist

Some things are self-evident.

People are still yammering about this business, so I'm going to make a few final observations on the Sherrod Fiasco (as happyfeet has dubbed it). First, if Ben Jealous had thought it unlikely that something racisty had gone down at this speech in Georgia, he wouldn't have pulled the trigger so quickly. If Andrew didn't initially frame the significance of the video the crowd's reaction to the apparently racisty things that Sherrod said on the road to Damascus, then it's a lame fallback, but that's a call that only people who've been paying attention can make. Second, it's simply monstrous, but perfectly typical of this administration, that the opinion of an extra-governmental organization such as the NAACP can have so much weight in the process. If anyone owed Sherrod a duty of care, it was her boss, Vilsack. He apparently relied on the knee-jerk opinion expressed by Jealous, because . . . hey, if you can't trust the NAACP on opinions regarding racism, who can you trust, right?

Community Organizer Boy is happy to let the lefty NGOs call the tune. He gets no sympathy from me when they turn out to be total FAIL.

Time to concentrate on other matters, such as who's Romanoff the reservation . . .

  1. Guess what, Haiti is not in Africa and it has an African President, and what about that faith-based NGO that you, Dan, Mr. Charity, were supposed to go wag your dick for?

The glory of Shakespeare in the park the savages will never know, oh wait, they’re French educated down there, meaning Art isn’t simply the name of their TV weatherman.

Go, shoo fly, shoo, be a no-good do-gooder, if you’re man enough that is.

    • I’m sure he’d be more able to, if he had a wealthy Patron, like, oh, say, someone who says they make bundles annually in FOREX…

Know anyone like that? I mean, someone with absolute moral authority, who steadfastly believes in social justice, and is so righteously concerned about third world brown peoples that they could spare a donation of, say, 20-30k a year to underwrite such a mission?

Know anyone like that mange? ‘Cuz, you know, Dan’s got a family to feed, and you’re familiar with what that costs, eh? Imagine what it’s like when they are teenagers!

      • Dan has a Patron Saint who goes by the name of the Pope, ever hear of him?

I have limited time to play with you so I’ll attempt to be brief.

I’d assume the main reason you twisted righty-wingy queeeers don’t attempt to better any one else or collective humanity in general is you spend all your waking minutes sharing self-affirming reach arounds. Besides, to yonder into the unknown, such as Cuba or Haiti, might violate your comfort capacity. Some bizarre happening possibly outside your cocoons, such as you might begin to question your narcissistic and too-oft pimped girly-boy views of reality, hell, you might even discover you’re not quite the mighty hurricane of genius that your Mommies once told you you were. God forbid you discover that you’re simply one pedestrian dick in a vast universe of dickish dickwads.

No need for this Goddamned blog, I fear. There’s no golden discovery to be made herein, just ordinary self-elevating passages scribbled by narrow-minded garden variety dufuses.

        Joni Mitchell you’re nots (sic).

        • I was a free man, mon craquer.

You don’t have to be here, you know. But since I’m in an expansive mood, what would it take to make you happy, Tom?

You see all the reach-arounds I get from other blogs? I don’t care. And I don’t give a rat’s ass about what color a person is, as long as he (or she) shares my values. Do you know what the NAACP’s values are? I’m black! I’m black! I’m black! Fuck that.

The reason that I support the things I do: they work. You call it exploitation (of the environment, of other people). I call it civilization. You go on and do without, Tom, and then you tell me about it.

I’m not taking any credit or blame for your unhappiness. Keep on keeping on just as you do. And when the game’s all done, which of us will be remembered more fondly, do you think? Where are your offerings, frere?

Emptiness. Great emptiness. I had hoped that your child would have made you think a little ahead. You present your pus, pus, pus as wisdom. You present your animus as reason. I don’t understand what it is you want from me. This President Dude has been an abject failure, on his own merits. The “intelligentsia” are a failure, because they lack humility, which is the only thing we have to prevent us from cleverly shooting ourselves in the ass.

Grow up. Don’t be a one-note Winnie, and don’t pretend to insight you don’t possess.

        • All I needed was a lecture from a “values” pimp brimming with humility, that’s it! Oh I see everything so clearly now. Ancient values and platitudes from tribal flat-earthers, thanks for the goggles!

You don’t know anything about Black history in America, else you wouldn’t yip about and insult the NAACP.

Know-it-alls possess the least humility of all, surprised you haven’t recognized that. Keep your keys to universal understanding, I’m really not in want of them.

          That’s a compliment.

And if you knew anything about black history, you’d know the NAACP was actually founded by whites. But trolls and facts are typically mutually exclusive.

        • Herbie,
I’d like to start by saying I really dig it when you tickle them ivories, and I especially liked it when you and Miles would jam together.

Having said that, just how do you know all of the places I’ve been? I’ve been and seen places that would make Pot-au-Prince look like the a town on the Cote d’azur. Maybe you’d like to list everywhere I’ve been, you know, just to remind me.

And forgive me if I don’t see the self-centeredness of my humble posts. I’ll grant you that it’s hard to see the big picture when you’re inside the frame, but you’ll have to point out some examples if you don’t mind. Also, I’ve never claimed to be a genius, and was never told so-especially by Mommy dearest, so examples of that too if you don’t mind; it would be compelling coming from one so well grounded in reality.

As always, I bear you no ill will, and will never understand the motivation for the vitriol you return to me. Really, what I wonder is the same as Dan asked; what exactly do you want or expect? You should consider posting your own editorial, and we can all debate it a la crossfire :)

I still send you and yours my best wishes, but as always, don’t mistake that moderation for weakness, nor my cordial politeness as a surrender.

Worship cheap, empty symbols less and listen more. Herbie listens. He’s smart like that.

  2. Dunno what this has to do with anything, but I saw She-Ra’s awesome pic and had to say I enjoyed a She-Ra watching marathon a while back and I think the country would be a better place with that series back on television. With all the morals about honesty, responsibility, and freedom no wonder I wanted to be She-Ra when I grew up. Only brunette, if possible.

  3. I must say, She-Ra is really hawt…

I mean, for a cartoon, that is.
