That’s the Way We Do It In a Capitalist Society!

Chelsea

So today Chelsea Clinton is getting married. I heard somewhere that her CAKE cost $11,000. WOW...I hope that cake made itself. lol But that really isn't my point here. My point is..why am I hearing anyone that loves Capitalism bitch about how much is being spent on this wedding? If I had 5M dollars and my niece wanted a 5M dollar wedding..I'd give it to her. I personally don't understand spending that much on a dress you're only gonna wear once and things that will be gone by the end of the day like flowers, cake and chicken..but that's just me. I didn't hear anyone complain about how much Rush's last wedding cost....does anyone even know? Elton John was there...I'm guessing a buttload of money. But he has a buttload of money and in a free, capitalist society, if you want to pile your money in the front yard and set it on fire...that's your right.

I get so irritated, (to the point of wanting to punch people in the face) listening to people like Garafolo, Pelosi, and that crowd talk about "evil successful, rich, white people"...like they aren't successful, rich and white. And listening to them talk about "redistribution of wealth, and giving back" when they mean everyone but them. I get just as irritated listening to people in "our crowd" begrudge a woman, whose Daddy has the bucks, the wedding she wants.

So, Chelsea I hope your wedding is everything you hoped for and dreamed about when you were a little girl. And, I hope your marriage is a fun, interesting, strong, and lasting one.

Sometimes stuff rumbles around in my brain that's longer than 140 characters and, well......twitlonger just seems like cheating. :)

  1. Agreed. Their money – God bless them – may they have many Conservative children during their wedded bliss. Or at least healthy Moderates.

My only point would be this: obviously money doesnt buy happiness, nor taste. But it can,in fact, buy a lot of cake.

The sound you hear is of people rightly calling the Clinton’s (who love redistributing other people’s money) hypocrites.

They are of the same ilk as McCain, Kerry, Obama – these are the royalty of our country. Like it or lump it, these are our overlords.

But I dont envy them one thing: because from the outside looking in, nothing good has come from that type of power and wealth. I actually feel sad for them. Especially when I think of how empty their lives are – no matter how full of stuff they may be.

    • I get the hypocrisy thing…and that’s my point..they get all up in arms about rich people being well….rich like they aren’t……my point was, I don’t want to be like them…I love capitalism …I want to make lots of money doing something I like and then spend it however I want…even if that means spending 5M on a Johnny Depp memorabilia collection. So, I never, ever, begrudge anyone spending their money however they please, because unlike rich white people on the Left, I am not a hypocrite.

So true, but I might offer a correction, bro. They think they are our overlords, and every time we don’t throw the bums out, it reinforces their mistaken belief.

All of these professional politicians need to look more to George Washington’s example, and retire gracefully, lest they be considered like royalty; act as Cincinnatus did. Make yourself available again if your country needs it, but otherwise, go back home.

  2. I agree, whether paid for by the Clintons of their friends, people have a right to spend their money as they wish!

I for one am shocked at the petty quibbling and sniping I hear over this.

I will say clearly that I don’t agree with the Clinton’s politics, past actions, nor probably Chelsea’s opinions either for that matter. But, that doesn’t lead to hate on my part. And I definitely don’t want to engage i tit-for-tat churlish and hypocritical behavior merely becuase the liberals in this nation often act like spoiled teenagers.

Chelsea is surely a fine young woman, who is intelligent and well educated. I congratulate her on her wedding day, and wish her nothing but the best in the future.

May God bless her and her new husband, and may He grace them with many children.

    • I think most of the complaining I’ve heard is not about the wedding per se, but that the MSM made such a big deal out of the Bushes shelling out a hundred grand for their daughter’s wedding, and have nothing to say about the expenditure of 30 to 50 times that much for Chelsea’s.

      • That’s true, and those aren’t the people I’m referring to when I mentioned the sniping. I was talking about the folks I’ve heard who’ve been going on about all of the redistributionist things the money would buy, such as, aids vaccine in Africa, poor people to be helped, etc.

Pointing out the usual MFM double standard is OK though, because as you mentioned, I remember the reporters getting the vapors over Bush’s daugters wedding.

  3. Yup, my first inclination was to point out that my wedding cost what the Clintons are spending to feed 2 guests, but… good for them. I hope she has a great day.

  4. I don’t begrudge the Clintons having a great wedding for their daughter. They have the bucks to throw a great bash and she is their only daughter. Good luck to Chelsea and I hope she has a great life with her new husband.

Soros funding some of it? When Hillary is still Secretary of State? Yeah, that is an issue. Not because of Chelsea and her wedding, but because of Hillary and Soros.

  5. You are not supposed to give lavish gifts to politicians still in office (and helping to fund a wedding is a lavish gift). Well at least out side of Chicago, Jersey City, Newark, and New Orleans.
