POWIP Piece of Work In Progress

Lecturer-in-Chief Backs Ground Zero Mosque

I'm gonna rock it with Obama at the Ramadan dinner get some poon tang tang real good!

If he ever decides to hold another press conference, perhaps someone can ask him what he the name Cordoba Project means, coming as it does from Imam Rauf, who tells the Arab press that his aim is to re-establish the perfect state attained by the Prophet at Medina. Perhaps also they can ask whether President Jefferson authorized the State Department to underwrite Catholic or Jewish fundraising missions abroad, three times. Please spare the victims' families the crocodile tears.

Related would be this video, also via Breitbart.tv from Yid with Lid, in which the DoJ tells the Civil Rights Commission that "The fact of the matter is, shut up! The guy used the word, 'bet!'"

UPDATE: Richard McEnroe weighs in.

Erick Erickson, too.

  1. Had his wife still been in Spain, I am sure some in the Spanish press would have reminded her what the name Cordoba symbolized. Then again, maybe not, Spain declared “no mas” when al Qaeda attacked them. It is easier to stand in the corner until it is your turn.

  2. The Cordoba House reminds me of this POS. That was stopped by public outcry led by victims’ families.

Oh I am sure the guy standing in the corner of the image above is facing Mecca.

  4. I’m not sure I understand who he thinks he’s the president of exactly. He’s right, religious freedom isn’t freedom unless it applies to everyone, and no one..at least no one I know is suggesting that they CAN’T build a mosque there..only whether or not they SHOULD and that’s what this debate has been about all along…dude is seriously delusional if he thinks regular everyday Americans think a mosque SHOULD be built there and if he knows we think that, and doesn’t care…well then I hope he enjoys his one term in office because it will be his last and the last a democrat sees of the inside of the Oval Office for a very long time.

Now, I’m going to be petty….I hate him. I hate hate hate hate hate him and he needs to go away now.

  5. If this center is being built to mend interfaith relationships, it is already an epic failure.

Short phelps version: you absolutely can build it there. It is an incredibly stupid move which will set harm the image of Islam in America for decades, which is well within your rights. There is no more basic freedom than to commit a hideously stupid and offensive act.

Comment from Balko’s site. Although you would have thought 9/11 on its own would have been considered a stupid move that hurt the image if Islam in America.

  7. Trooper York said…
I would ask him to appeal to the simple decency and humanity of the Muslim organizers and ask them to rethink this project at this location. I would ask him even offer to aid them if they could find it in their hearts to move this project as Governor Patterson has offered to do. I would ask him to offer the bare minimum of understanding and compassion that he seems to ladle over everyone else in the world other than the familes and loved ones who find this project an appalling slap in the face.

But I don’t expect him to find that in his heart. His heart lies elsewhere.

  8. My girlfriend is Muslim (from Lebanon; I am black). The father of the family is a doctor and the mother is a IT expert. They are living the great American dream– a swimming pool, a golden retriever dog in the back yard, saving more than they are spending, a mini-van to bring the kids to swimming practice, everything. They also happen to be devout Muslims. We can not split “us” and “them,” we are all “us.” Don’t let those evil terrorists divide our amazing, well-educated Muslim community from the rest of America.
