Final Countdown
I'd love to write something very witty and interesting but I've got nothing. All I can think about is hunting season. Which, for me, isn't until October 9th.
I thought about writing something about hunting--lessons I've learned, little pieces of advice, crazy stories. But I'm very superstitious and I don't feel comfortable acting like a hunting know-it-all with season looming. Hubris and the inevitable downfall and all that, you know.
So if any of you would like to do my job for me offer suggestions regarding something I could write in the meantime that you would possibly read, that would be super. Otherwise I'll just keep daydreaming about October and hope I have something to offer you all by Halloween.

You could post something about the devious trap being laid for Republicans by the Democrat scoundrels. You could talk about how the Democrats colluding with the media are trying to get every Republican they can find to go on and on about ‘Fiscal Responsibility’. Come January, do you not believe this will be thrown back in our faces when they go to consider repealing the Bush tax cuts?
It will go something like this: You claim that you are serious about getting our Fiscal House in order. Are you serious about this, because, if you are, you need to support increased taxation to make a dent in this ballooning deficit. To be fiscally responsible, we must raise taxes! Otherwise, you are a hypocrite.
Republicans can easily dodge this trap by talking about growth instead. We must grow our way back to prosperity. That’s actually what people want to hear too, not increasing taxes to pay for uncontrolled spending by silly politicians.
Democrats also declared the recession over. This will be used to argue for sunsetting the Bush tax cuts also. Its all very sinister.

I would suggest a post about why gun ownership issues are important to hunters. I know it seems obvious, but the intelligentsia clearly dont get it – dont get the culture – dont understand hunting at all. They like raw food – as long as it’s processed first. I mean, look: all hunters are very poorly edumacated simpletons who clearly havent heard that they can just go to the grocery store to get their food.

I just started googling trying to find a specific quote re: “Why do people need to hunt? They can just go to the grocery store!” and ended up reading a ridiculous post and my blood pressure is through the roof.
That said, I still might cobble something together. If I can avoid an aneurysm in the meantime…

Here’s a song by Leslie Fish that always sums up hunting and fishing for me:
Last verse:
So come to the battle of the jaws and gaff
At the meeting of sea and air
We’ll duel for food while the old gods laugh…
By the gods, this fight is fair!
Come up, come up, oh sweet thresher shark
One of us today will die
One will go down the other one’s throat
Beneath the pitiless sky, oh
Beneath the pitiless sky.
