My Biggest Problem With Unions
I've never had an issue with unions negotiating the best possible deals for their members; it's their job. Besides, if management caves to a destructive deal, that's their own fault.
My problem with unions has always been their propensity to stick their nose where it doesn't belong. I also have a hard time with Christian organizations (such as Focus on the Family) who take sides on issues that fall outside their purview (such as tax rates). I happen agree with their positions, but find it difficult to accept the fact that they are taking them at all. But even then, there's at least an argument to be had that taxes are a moral issue.
On the other hand, a teacher's union offering "support" (no matter how symbolic) for a convicted cop killer on the other side of the country? You aren't helping yourselves, guys.

They may not be helping themselves, but it should be helpful to the rest of us.
When you stop and think about it, knowing who is on the “Free Mumia” bandwagon is just like knowing who among your associates believes in Astrology, or Numerology, or suchlike. That’s really useful information when you are determining how much credence to give to their opinions on most anything.
If the nitwits self-identify, it’s much easier to avoid finding out the hard way that they are, in fact, nitwits.

Reminds me of my FB post from yesterday: Sometimes you just have to step back and let the idiots use their right to free speech to expose their stupidity.

Well, I have a few problems with unions, but it strikes me as being beyond the scope of this post to enumerate them…
But under no circumstances should a teachers union ever be seen supporting a convicted cop-killer in any fashion, let alone a high profile one.

Yeah, this is only my biggest problem. Not my only one; although I confess I’m probably more sympathetic to them due to my family connections to them.
