POWIP Piece of Work In Progress – Former Abode of Dan Collins

Audio of Deadly Tornado That Struck Joplin, Yesterday

killing at least 89 people.

Yeah, it's video, but there's not a lot to see. Via Patrick Madrid.

When they're in the eye of the tornado, some of them think it's over, but the winds on the back end are actually worse than on the leading edge.

  1. American Red Cross?

Sorry, no. I inherited the prejudice against them from my old Daddy, who still wouldn’t give them a dime if he had Bill Gates’ money.

He can, (and has) offered me a multitude of examples of the American Red Cross exploiting the masses for money, and using their “Give-Aways” for publicity. As he has often noted, when he was on Active Duty during WWII, the Officers got free Coffee and Donuts. The Enlisted men got charge a dime for the same.

(I don’t know this, but if he tells me that, I have to believe him. He was there, and he was a Tailgunner on a B-24 in CBI back then, so I figure he’d know.)

He also tells a number of stories about service members in France and Germany in the mid to late 1950′s through the mid 1960′s. If they had a family member die and need to go home on Compassionate Leave, the Red Cross would buy their car…for half price. Otherwise, you don’t get home.

I don’t need to mention them paying Liddy Dole and her successors $1 Mil/year each to run the organization. If they can afford that for their management, they don’t need my money, apart from any of my old Daddy’s gripes. And he’ll still not whiz in their ear if their brains were on fire, to this day.

Give it to the Salvation Army. They aren’t nearly as crooked or bureaucratic.

And that’s the name of that tune.
