Monday Evening Fun with Stupid

You know, I thought I was being kind of funny when I came out as Weiner's Sixth Sextstress, but you just can't beat dumb reality. Over the weekend, it came out that Syrian lesbian blogger Amina Arraf was actually an American dude living in Edinburgh. His excuse is that none of the situation on the ground stuff that he reported about Syria is inaccurate, and that "Amina Arraf" was an important voice for freedom. Now it's discovered that blogger Paula Brooks of Lez Get Real is actually another dude.

But the funniest part is that "Amina Arraf" and "Paula Brooks" flirted with each other on the latter's website, without either one realizing the other was a hoax.

Also in stupid for the day are the woman who posted an ad for a hitman to kill her baby daddy and the guy who responded to the ad.

I also whined yesterday, in part, about people letting Andrew Sullivan off the hook. Well, Jeff didn't.

It’s almost funny enough to overwhelm the pathetic part. But not quite.

Do any of these leftoids have an actual life, or are they totally consumed with internet sex and pretending to be lesbians? If everything is about the narrative, and the narrative requires you to pretend to be something that you are not?

I try to feel sorry for them, but it’s hard to find any sympathy anywhere in myself for self-inflicted brain damage at those levels.

It reminds me of an old joke:

This guy is sitting at a bar and spies a lovely lady across the way. He motions the bartender to buy her a drink. The bartender says “are you sure?” and the guy says “of course!”

So the bartender shrugs his shoulders and makes her one. She smiles and stays where she is.

After 15 minutes or so he motions to the bartender again to send her another drink.

“Buddy,” says the bartender, “I have to tell you, it ain’t gonna get you anywhere.”

“What do you mean?”

“She’s a lesbian.”

“A what? What does that mean?”

“It means, er, it means, well, that she likes women.”

“Oh.”

A few minutes go by and the bartender notices that the man is sitting there gently sobbing.

“Hey, hey, don’t take it so hard! You win some, you lose some. What’s the matter, friend?”

“I’m a lesbian!”
