RIP Patty Ann [UPDATE: Funeral Arrangements, &ct]
UPDATE: Ace has the details about the funeral arrangements and memorial donations. [Clarification: Andy at AoSHQ]
As Dan reminded me yesterday in the thread asking for prayers for BJ Texeira, Patty Ann, a member of "The Hostages" family and longtime doyenne of the internet, was herself still struggling with a life threatening surgical complication and in dire need of our prayers as well.
Alas, I heard this morning that she passed away during the night. As far as I know, in her last moments she was awake and being comforted by a friend who read her the 23rd psalm. She has gone to be with the Lord, His will be done...
Pray for the loved ones she leaves here on Earth. May God grant them His mercy, strength, comfort, and peace in their time of grief. And may He reassure them that in the fullness of time, they too will join Him and their beloved Patty Ann in Your kingdom, where all will be together forever.
Patty Ann was a lovely woman who was always witty, cheerful, and kind. And she will surely be missed. I can't help but get the feeling that, if at all possible, heaven will be a little brighter today because she's joined it's ranks.
Godspeed Patty Ann.

What a downer for us, what a blessing for her. I know her well enough to be confident she had a reservation at a very well-appointed Eternal Resort.
Funeral/remembrance details when you get them?

True that. Carin would certainly be a more direct source for any of those details. I only knew Patty Ann through the kindness she showed when chatting with her over at The H2.
Carin knew her much better than I.
I saw this earlier today and thought I’d express condolences for all of us here.

Thanks, Bob. I’m making this sticky for a day or two, if nobody has any objections.

Sorry to but in on your blog. I’m not even sure how I got here, but I’m glad to see you guys got the opportunity to love her like we did.
This is from Cathy: Visitation will be at a funeral home in Lewisville tomorrow, Wednesday June 8th.
Funeral service will be at the gravesite on Thursday morning, June 9th.
I’ll be meeting John and other family members at the funeral home later today, and will share details of the times and places when they are known.

You’re not butting in one bit PJM.
Thanks for keeping us up to speed on how we can pay our respects to her family; and to all of you folks at The H2 who enjoyed the pleasure of her love and friendship.

PA managed to leave a really big ripple in the electronic pond.
And I will miss her.

“A really big ripple in the electronic pond” is a truly apt characterization BiW.
She was an exceptional woman who’s beautiful heart shined through the opacity of the internet in the way she treated people.

I never interacted with the Lady, and not being a big commenter at the places she usually frequented, I didn’t encounter her as much as many here have.
Be that as it may, she and her surviving family are in my thoughts and prayers. She sounds like someone that I’m diminished for not having interacted with more.

She touched a lot of folks’ lives in a positive way, Andy. She was a shining example of a person who was vivacious, and gave of herself unselfishly.
As us God-bothering types might say, she “lived her life right”.

I barely knew her, but we had a little ongoing schtick at The Hostages, where I would always ask her, “Patty Ann, why don’t we ever talk?” She always played along, pretending to intimidate me out of actually ever chatting with her.
I’ma gonna miss her.
