Potfare, Tax Credits for Non-Taxpayers

Isn't there an entitlement to pot in California, yet?

Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneger says welfare recipients can no longer use state-issued debit cards at medical marijuana shops, psychics and other businesses whose services have been deemed “inconsistent with the intent” of the program.

Didn't see that coming.

Other businesses affected by the ban include bail bond establishments, bingo halls, cruise ships and tattoo parlors.

Fascist!

On top of everything else, it turns out the stimulus was an invitation to tax fraud: J. Russell George, the Treasury's inspector general for tax administration, just reported that he'd identified more than 125,000 individuals who got $111.4 million in undeserved tax-credit refunds, thanks to the 2009 Recovery Act.

We already knew that the stimulus failed to produce the miracles that President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had promised -- the unemployment numbers alone are proof of that. Much of the cash went to the states, to roll back welfare reform and to allow states to avoid cutting their spending. Now George's audit of the IRS's handling of the 16 new or increased "refundable" tax credits has exposed yet another mess:

* 10,581 people got $65.6 million in Homebuyer Credits they didn't qualify for.

* 109,665 individuals got $29.7 million in Making Work Pay and Government Retiree credits they didn't qualify for.

* 5,345 people wrongly received $15.6 million in Plug-in Vehicle credits.

* 171 got $453,220 in erroneous Nonbusiness Energy Property credits.

* 2,933 received more than $95.8 million in excessive Qualified Motor Vehicle Tax deductions.

Democrats rushed the massive "stimulus" package through Congress within a month of Obama's taking office. More than one in every three dollars of "stimulus" -- $252 billion worth -- took the form of "refundable tax credits" (many to "taxpayers" who paid no taxes).

And now George has shown that the burden of processing these vast giveaways overwhelmed even the IRS's 100,000 employees and contractors, operating on a budget exceeding $12 billion this year.

Redistribution, working to plan: rewarding the most felonious Americans.

The subject being pondered is DNA paternity testing and its consequences. Given what follows, you may want to bear that opening sentence in mind.

Now, a cotton-wool swab with a bit of saliva, plus a small fee, less than £200, can settle the matter. At a stroke, the one thing that women had going for them has been taken away,

The one thing?

The one respect in which they had the last laugh over their husbands and lovers.

I hadn’t realised parenthood was about having the last laugh. Clearly, I need to brush up on the etiquette of modern mating. But surely paternity tests merely level the playing field in a matter of some gravity? What mama knows (and doesn’t say), papa can now find out. In terms of paternity, is that really such a crushing injustice?

DNA tests are an anti-feminist appliance of science, a change in the balance of power between the sexes that we’ve hardly come to terms with. And that holds true even though many women have the economic potential to provide for their children themselves… In making paternity conditional on a test rather than the say-so of the mother, it has removed from women a powerful instrument of choice.

Choice that may include deception and extortion.

Uncertainty allows mothers to select for their children the father who would be best for them.

Suckering former lovers? Not a problem. Mama wants a selection box.

Pro-Choice! Why, it's like an easement into your bank account.

“We doin’ big pimpin’ up in NYC”: From a little ACORN, a scandal grows in Brooklyn

Oh my, that title sounds like a novel Iâ€™d rather not readâ€¦

It seems that it was not such a fluke when ACORN employees were caught on film advising folks how to simultaneously run a brothel staffed by under age illegal aliens and dodge the taxes on the revenues of that operation.Â The latest episode in the criminal saga is set in Brooklyn.

To which ACORN is responding, Fuhgeddabowdit !; Darleen at PW covers the story where Bertha Lewis invokes a comparison to Willie Horton, all while threatening legal action.

But Ms. Lewis unwittingly makes an excellent analogy when she compares ACORN to Willie Horton; just not the one she intended. Because ACORN is a criminal enterprise, which has already been caught in wrongdoing, that will to violate the law, the rights of people, and defraud the government of money and the right to fair and accurate elections if facilitated by liberals; just like Willie Horton was allowed to continue to brutalize people while on â€œworkâ€ release from his life sentence in prisonâ€¦

She wants to sound the oft employed dog-whistle of Â RAAAAACISM!, but unfortunately for her and ACORN, the proof is in these videos; not to mention that her allies on the left have worn out the race card in the eyes of most Americans with itâ€™s gratuitous use attacking all who oppose Obamaâ€™s policy prescriptionsâ€¦

And sue the filmmaker? Iâ€™m afraid there is way too much precedent set for hidden camera sting video operations done by news organizations and whistleblowers. And all the howls of RAAAAAAACISM! in the world wonâ€™t change that inconvenient truth.

Itâ€™s time that ACORN stopped feeding at the public trough; otherwise the US taxpayer will continue, â€œdoin' big pimpin, spendin' cheeseâ€...
