I read this amusing post at "Bookworm Room" today on the difference between conservatives and liberals. Forwarded by a reader, it really does capture the essence of the mindsets. A taste:

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn`t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

It's a short post and I suggest your read the whole thing. Also, for those who enjoy poetry, here is a one written by Bookworm on the subject of medieval Flemish painters.
