Palin RIPS Obama regarding His Petulant Presser

Like many of us, Sarah Palin seemed to be taken aback a bit by Obama's press conference today following Speaker Boehner's withdrawal from the debt ceiling negotiations. You know, the one where he summoned Congressional leaders to the White House tomorrow (Saturday 7/23) morning, and where he displayed more of his SUPERIOR TEMPERAMENT!; typical, nay classic, Obama- sanctimonious, disingenuous, demagogic, self-righteous, and arrogant...
This is the same president who proposed an absurdly irresponsible budget that would increase our debt by trillions of dollars, and whose party failed to even put forward a budget in over 800 days! This is the same president who is pushing our country to the brink because of his reckless spending on things like the nearly trillion dollar “stimulus” boondoggle. This is the same president who ignored his own debt commission’s recommendations and demonized the voices of fiscal sanity who proposed responsible plans to reform our entitlement programs and rein in our dangerous debt trajectory. This is the same president who wanted to push through an increase in the debt ceiling that didn’t include any cuts in government spending! This is the same president who wants to slam Americans with tax hikes to cover his reckless spending, but has threatened to veto a bill proposing a balanced budget amendment. This is the same president who hasn’t put forward a responsible plan himself, but has rejected reasonable proposals that would tackle our debt. This is the same president who still refuses to understand that the American electorate rejected his big government agenda last November. As I said in Madison, Wisconsin, at the Tax Day Tea Party rally, “We don’t want it. We can’t afford it. And we are unwilling to pay for it.”
Now the President is outraged because the GOP House leadership called his bluff and ended discussions with him because they deemed him an obstruction to any real solution to the debt crisis.
He has been deemed a lame duck president. And he is angry now because he is being treated as such.
His foreign policy strategy has been described as “leading from behind.” Well, that’s his domestic policy strategy as well. Why should he be surprised that he’s been left behind in the negotiations when he’s been leading from behind on this debt crisis?
Thank you, GOP House leaders. Please don’t get wobbly on us now.
2012 can’t come soon enough.

Which, I don't think I can, or should, add anything of substance here except for a hearty "Amen!" But for your enjoyment, I'll throw in a link to Protein Wisdom; one where Darleen provides us video of Charles Krauthammer's delicious take on the President's presser. It's worth a few minutes of your time.

What is your opinion, kind reader?
I Got Mail.
Yeah, I'm doing a post. I hope nobody dies from the shock. :)
I got a very interesting piece of junk mail today. It's from a mobile phone company called CREDO Mobile. You can find them online Here
There is a picture of Sarah Palin carrying a Tea Party sign with the line "If you agree with her politics, please don't open this envelope.". Well, I do agree with Sarah on most things, but, you know me, I rarely do what I'm told, so I opened it.
There's a little flyer with the same pic of Sarah, larger and in color with the headline: Does Your Phone Company Fight the Right?
On the back is the following mission statement:
Sarah Palin, John Boehner, Rand Paul, the Tea Party crow, and the Fox News gang all play on the same team--a team that certain phone companies have no qualms about funding. AT&T gave a whopping $426,000 to House and Senate Tea Party Caucus members in 2009-2010.
AT&T and Verizon Wireless pumped thousands of dollars into the campaign coffers of Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and Mike Lee, all Tea Party-back Senators.
At CREDO, we're fighting the right wing--with an activist network thats 1.9 million strong and growing, and with millions of dollars raised annually for nonprofits like ACLU, Earthjustice, Democracy Now! and Color of Change to name a few.
Join the fight. Join CREDO Mobile.
Now I've never heard of CREDO mobile before today and had no idea of AT&T or Verizon's donation habits. Perhaps you had not either.
This mailing made me ask a couple of questions.. First, how the hell did some left wing nut job phone company get my name and address? I wouldn't have joined any websites that lean that way and I haven't filled out any surveys or anything. Weird. Next, if Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are so freakin' irrelevant, why does anyone care what they do or who donates to them? And lastly, why aren't AT&T and Verizon ..etc... sending out mail like this?
Oooh, I heard a little blog called Wonkette was looking for new advertisers, perhaps I could steer CREDO their way.
Okay...I"m done. No rant...just a little FYI. :)
Have a lovely day.
UPDATE: I called Credo to find out where they got my address. Turns out it was "donated" to them by a charity I donated to called Falling Whistles. I started laughing and asked the operator "so, based on a single charitable donation, your company assumed I agreed with your political agenda. So, what you're really saying is, that since I do not believe that it is cool traffic in human beings....I couldn't possibly be a Republican?" He said "no ma'am that's not what we're saying at all."
Um, yeah little man it is, since that's where you got my name from, you made a GIANT leap in the wrong direction.
So I told him I did not expect to get another piece of mail from his company no matter what charities I choose to donate my money too.
Sarah and Kate: rumble on the tundra
Are you ready to have your Monday morning mind blown? The scuttlebutt is that Kate Gosselin Inc. went on a camping trip with Sarah Palin to be featured on Palin's upcoming reality show, Sarah Palin's Alaska. I'll give you a moment...
via Reality Blurred , “recently, the Palins graciously shared their Alaska with the Gosselin family, and that camping trip will be part of an upcoming episode.” And probably the inevitable spin-off, Sarah Palin’s Alaskan Camping Trips with Kate Gosselin."
When news of a Sarah Palin reality show first surfaced I accused skeptics across the political spectrum of overreacting. She was simply shopping the show, it was unclear whether she would be on camera. And if readers learned anything from Going Rogue it's that Sarah Palin really loves Alaska, specifically its landscape and wildlife. It would make perfect sense for her to want to do a travelogue-style show about her beloved state. Something seems to have gone amiss, most likely the part where TLC executives are involved.
I've criticized and defended both of these women. By her own admission, Kate Gosselin is a control freak, but I doubt she's the 24/7 bitch on wheels she's been portrayed to be. Her decision-making skills leave a lot to be desired, but what's done is done. It's not realistic to expect her to go back to nursing now. Sarah Palin is equally misunderstood. Her family was figuratively raped by the media from the second her VP nomination was announced. No serious person on either side of the aisle can claim she's been treated fairly, and what her children have been put through is unprecedented. But her staunch supporters have over-corrected by not allowing even legitimated criticism of her, and that does her and the country a disservice.
Sarah Palin's Alaska as a travelogue could be a great show, but a Sarah and Kate cage match under the Northern Lights is a joke and should be treated as such.
P.S. Spoiler alert: Sounds like it didn't go well.

The Zen of Palin [Update by Dan]
The meme being floated by the self-appointed Intelligentsia with regard to Palin is that she is somehow not up to snuff on the issues of the day. That somehow she is ignorant of the issues that face us and lacks the knowledge to lead - offering criticisms rather than potential solutions. I find this a most obnoxious meme.
Alas, these critiques come from the very people Palin (and indeed all who find themselves moved by her speeches) has rightly targeted in her criticisms. And once again, instead of countering her complaints, they seek only to malign.
It is true that Palin has not demonstrated, on a national level, an ability to solve the major problems that face this country. Most obviously because she has not had an opportunity to do so. It is true that her resume does not include elbow-rubbing with the movers and shakers inside the Beltway. It is true she may not even comprehend how the "Game" is played in DC. We can only go on our gut instinct about her and her successes in Alaska... we can only take a sort of leap of faith when it comes to Palin. We can only, those of us who see in her something more than a charismatic pit-bull in chief, imagine what she might accomplish in the Oval Office.
To those that criticize that she lacks the necessary gravitas, I would only chuckle. For Obama, who now sits in the Oval Office, has not demonstrated the ability to solve the major problems that face this country, despite having a year of opportunities to do so. And this man IS the mover and shaker in the Beltway. The man whose elbows every political creature, especially in the early days of his presidency, have been trying to rub. Obama, who stands behind the presidential seal, who was voted into office with the hope that the "Game" Palin is now accused of not understanding would have its rules upended with an Obama victory, was beneficiary of a Giant Leap of Faith. And many who voted him into office realize that he is maybe not the One they anticipated... he is not the Game-Changer they had envisioned when they cast their ballots. Quite the contrary - he is now faced with the realities of DC. And his ability to navigate the political landscape is woeful at best. In some fashion he really seems not to understand the rules at all. And certainly does not comprehend the finer, more delicate politics involved. Never mind his complete detachment from the Will of the People.
It is true the Framers envisioned an apparatus given to the status quo. It is true they fashioned mechanism that had a high propensity to gridlock. And thankfully so. It is true that the vibrancy of our federal government is due to its preference for inaction. And again, thankfully so. So that no man or woman should ever master the mechanism is what all Constitutionalists pray for. That no so-called charismatic executive will ever seduce her entirely... this Lady Liberty... is what we should celebrate when we think of the Genius built into the apparatus.
So, really, at the end of the day, should we desire an executive that seeks to master that which is not to be mastered? Or should we tend toward those who are governed by true and abiding love of principle? Should we prefer an ideologue whose belief-system seeks to upend the apparatus? Or should we prefer one who is guided by principles which are, to the degree possible given Lady Liberty's disagreeable nature, most harmonious with her very essence?
From this perspective, I cannot help to think that Palin, as studied or learned as she may or may not be, is a creature who sings a theme that resonates with the institutional instrument itself. At least to the degree that is possible. I do not think the concept of limited government, limited interference, limited confiscatory taxation, limited oversight of commerce, limited social programming, limited policing of ever decreasing freedoms, and limited governance is trite. Not in the least. Palin herself is governed by these very principles. These, the underlying beliefs she proclaims, are broad but profound. And they are very much in harmony with the machine the Framers constructed. A master craftsman of any medium spends all of his initial energies understanding his medium. And at first (while still a novice) begins by trying to master it. Eventually realizing the folly of artistic masturbation, he then comprehends that there are limitations in the material he at first sought to master. If he is sufficiently dedicated and bright enough, he conforms himself to the least degree possible to the innate limitations of the medium. Then, understanding what can be and what will not be at the macro level, asserts himself within the medium prudently. Artistic Genius is most often affiliated with those who intuitively comprehend that equilibrium is only to be had when the master sublimates the creaturely desire to master the medium, and instead gives himself to achieving harmony with it at the first - and then and only then allowing for his own personal style to express itself.
One must first have two hands to "master" the violin. Drum sticks just won't do it. Ever. No matter who wields them. And no matter what they wear when they try.
Could we call her wise? Or at least, enlightened in a Mr. Magoo sort of way? I think so. And then what about the Golden Boy who approaches the battered violin each and every day with drumsticks? So confident is Obama that today - tomorrow - or the next - HE will eventually find a way to beat a grand opus out of it? And that the violin will become very much not at all what it is or ever will be... what kind of Towering Intellect sees in a violin a drum set?

Jerry Wilson of Goldfish and Clowns, which has a sleek new look, makes complementary points:
Sarah Palin is the mirror in which the wannabes see their insignificance. She doesn’t need the blogger prattlers or the Twitter twits or puffed-up pundits. She blows right past them, communicating directly with the people. The genuine media high fliers, the true high rollers — Limbaugh, Levin, Beck, Hannity — have both the intelligence to give her free reign and the humility to know her star shines far brighter than even theirs, wisely yielding the stage to her whenever possible. They understand the concept of serving the greater good, and act accordingly.
