On October 8th, 2009, James Scott Shore died - one of three to die due to James Arthur Ray and team's negligence in Sedona, AZ - during Ray's so-called "Spiritual Warrior" retreat.

As I have chronicled to some extent here, James Shore's death turned Alyssa into a widow - and their three lovely children fatherless.

What I have not mentioned here is that my friend's - my brother's - body has been on ice ever since. That is, his corpse has not yet been put to rest. No. While James Arthur Ray's body continues to eat, shit, piss and sleep - James Shore's body has been in state. That is, his body has been - for the past 2.5 months - sitting in a cooler at the funeral home.

Of all of the things that have upset me regarding the death of James Shore at the hands of James Arthur Ray, the fact that his remains have been melting away in some locker for all of this time makes me perhaps more sick to my stomach than the fact that James cooked to death in the first place while Ray chastised a lone voice calling for him to put an end to the pressure cooker.

It is disgusting to think that my friend's body - the Temple of the Holy Spirit Himself - has been so abused. I understand why the authorities and the family chose to keep James' body intact. Out of necessity. In order that no evidence be destroyed. In order that when James Arthur Ray and his sycophants are called to account, Alyssa and James Shore's mother know that they in no way jeopardized the case against the man who killed their beloved James. But still, for the record it must be said that 2.5 months in state is enough to make one's skin crawl. And in my case, it is enough to boil my blood. My beautiful friend rotting slowly. As dignified as the funeral home has tried to make this awful necessity... this is a very undignified manner in which to have one's body treated.

For many this may seem a horrible thing for me to speak to. But my brother James would want me to scream it from the mountain tops... and he would not want me to pull punches, either. He would insist that I speak to the uncomfortable truth that insult has been heaped upon injury. And this awful state of affairs... both his unnecessary death and subsequent abuse of his body are both brought to us by James Arthur Ray.

If Ray were interested in justice, he would not have signaled that he intends to fight vigorously to defend himself - with all of his and James Ray International's treasure. As indefensible as his actions and then inaction are. As indefensible as leaving a widow and 3 orphans in no-man's land - with no money or means to sustain themselves without their beloved is. If he were interested in justice, my brother would have long since been committed to hallowed ground. This is to say that James Arthur Ray's sins against this innocent family and against God have since been compounded by his subsequent decisions. All of this, Cosmically, belongs to James Arthur Ray.

Today, James' body will FINALLY be cremated. The Temple of the Holy Spirit while he was alive will FINALLY be able to rest. To return to ash and dust.

Today happens to be the Winter Solstice. The darkest days are said to be behind us. And we once again witness the growth of light. The darkness is beaten back.  In my Catholic faith, we normally wait to be reborn on Easter. But this year, I am going to hit reset at midnight tonight.

But before I forgive in my heart the scumbag charlatan snake-oil salesman that is James Arthur Ray... I here and now throw all suffering in the hearts of those who love and miss James Shore... all sadness... all insult... all hurt and pain away from us ---- BACK TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER: JAMES ARTHUR RAY. A pox on his house and all who defend him - until he REPENTS! REPENTS! REPENTS! and returns to the Lord God. May your days be enough to banish your pride and your nights full of terror until you embrace the Light.

One of the wonderful things I get to do, having been James' close friend and business partner, is to surf all of his machines at work. This is a difficult, though necessary, thing to do. For one, I shouldn't have to. James should still be alive and with us today, but for James Arthur Ray's negligence. For another thing, it feels as if I am invading James' personal space... which I am. But his widow works to assemble to the best of her ability his estate. And his children still need to be fed and clothed. So I do this in loving memory of my brother and for the sake of his young family which now finds itself without their Papa.

While I scour James' machines and thumb-drives and "outboard" drives for tax returns, bank statements, mortgage statements, and all manner of account information... as I check each and every file for information relating to this or that, as necessary for the assemblage of his estate, I invariably encounter James.

Family photos - he has tons of them. And this in no way surprises me. I cannot look at them for long. Because I know I am looking at the happy times. The children, I, A, and D, are all smiles - as they were when Papa was still in their midst. He was a doting father. And, not surprisingly, Papa is missing from most of the photos - he, being behind the camera, prompting smiles.

Videos - in particular of the children singing Christmas carols for Alyssa, wife and mother. The children captured with missing teeth and barefoot in their warm and cozy family room. And James quietly conducting behind the camera.

Emails - lots of emails. Up and beyond the date of his death. SPAM does never really stop. Some I have to forward to Alyssa and cc myself - from James' accounts. And when I find them in my own email inbox, I am still shocked to see his name on my screen. Worst though was yesterday's email from James Arthur Ray. Crass. Awful.

Writings - James and I were finishing a book on Interactive Marketing. We were damn close after a solid year. Had written the introduction and everything. Remnants remain strewn across his files.

Dreams - James and I had no fewer than 10 projects we envisioned building together. Most pertaining to web portals and new interactive products. But also I have found images of homes in Boulder and info on acreage in Panama... these the dreams of where James envisioned himself and his family in the years to come. But James also had several projects he was pursuing on behalf of his friends. From alternative health websites to medicinal marijuana sites - he envisioned using our little company to advance other people's dreams too.

Where is Papa, James Arthur Ray? Where is father? Who will take the pictures this year and catalog them? Who will take the kids to the movies? Who will teach and comfort and love? Who will leave sweet nothings around the house for Alyssa to find?

I will say that I am quite excited. Scott has prepared prayer strings for ceremonial offering. Scott and I will probably not stay for the ceremony. Nonetheless, I am studying up a bit on Lakota Culture, so as not to be the offensive white guy. It is an honor to have been invited along with Scott to visit. I am very aware of this fact.

In studying up, I found this. I think it is very poignant and certainly topical, given the recent death of James and the other two victims at the hands of James Arthur Ray, charlatan extraordinaire.

James Shore, as part Chippewa, would have been heartbroken to know that his death would have resulted in any strife within the tribes, or used to cast any dispersion on Native Peoples. Had he known that his participation in a White Man's Sweat was heretical, he would never had participated.

But I stand by my statement now more than ever: James Shore did not attend the "Spiritual Warrior" event as a "follower" - if you would had known him, as I did, it becomes increasingly apparent that he went as an observer.

Imagine if you will a sociologist wanting to really see an asylum from the inside - and being committed purposefully in order to do so. This has happened in the past.

James was an anthropologist at heart who was fascinated by the fringe.

The truth of the matter will out. But I am here to say that James A Ray was no match for James Shore - spiritually, intellectually, or otherwise. And James was no fool. Which begs the question I will answer: What was he up to?

James A Ray was f**king with things he had no business messing with. And he owes all Native People a massive apology. But he won't apologize - because he is a snake, a profiteer, a murderer of sacred things, a murderer of people.

BTW - there is an art in the land of Search Engine Marketing called "Brand Protection" or "Reputation Management" - wherein a business hires a Search Engine Mktg company to scour the intratubals looking for negative press and combating negative search results with extremely expensive SEM techniques - essentially, so that when one searches for "James Arthur Ray," one sees benign  results, rather than natural (organic) search results... which, un-manipulated,  would by this time be top to bottom results speaking to James Arthur Ray's negligence and current/ongoing troubles (re: negative press).

It is my professional opinion James Arthur Ray and James Ray International have hired a very adept SEM company to unnaturally impact the natural (organic) rankings. What this means is that they are astroturfing the Search Engines, skewing the organic results in order to protect the brand that is James A Ray.

It is not cheap.

UPDATE: MilwaukeeSEO, Anthony "Don't Call me Tony" Verre, indicates that it is unlikely, based on his analysis, JARay is doing any sort of Search Engine Astroturfing. Sez Mr. Verre, SEM Expert Extraordinaire (my go to now that my business partner is dead) "if James Ray has contracted a SEM firm, they suck at their job."
