Giving Thanks – a Day to Remember

Today, I will give thanks to God for all of his wonderful blessings.

I will remember some of them here:

1) I am thankful for my wife and kids
2) I am thankful for my friends and family
3) I am thankful for the roof over my head
4) I am thankful for being employed
5) I am thankful for food and clothing
6) I am thankful most of all for my Faith

Some others that come to mind:

1) I am thankful for the life of Kenneth Kleppin, my wife's uncle, who gave his life in Vietnam during a helicopter rescue attempt - I never met him, but I am thankful for his sacrifice.
2) I am thankful for those in my ancestry who chose to come to the New World - beginning with Matthew Howard in 1640, John Vause, Edward Dorsey, and Nicholas Wyatt (on my mother's side), and my Irish forebears who arrived at the turn of the 20th Century.
3) I am thankful for all of my ancestors who refused to take the soup. I am thankful to those of them who were "unreasonable" when it came to ethics, morality, and defending the Faith, protecting the hated, feeding the poor, clothing the naked.
4) I am thankful for the friends I have known, loved, and lost - Michael House, who succumbed to Leukemia - and James Shore, who was murdered by James Arthur Ray and his negligence.

Ultimately, I place all glory to God - knowing he will see properly to the Peacemakers and to the wicked alike. I thank Him for being merciful for those who repent and exacting justice from those who do not. I thank Him for leaving the weeds among the crops, so as Children of Light might not be uprooted with the children of darkness. I am thankful to God who is infinite Mercy and Justice. I am thankful that He will store his beloved and repentant sinners - His adopted sons and daughters - in His barn - and burn the weeds for all eternity. Because this present world is full of Light persevering to shine in the darkness of the evil one. And one day, the evil one and his legions of deceivers will reap what they have sown. And that makes me pleased... Either repent or burn - perfect Justice at a Cosmic scale. What is not to love and be thankful for about that?
